Former Fortis boss got big bonus

Former Fortis CEO Jean-Paul Votron, who oversaw Fortis’ role in the takeover of ABN Amro last year, insisted on getting a bonus of €2.5m, the NRC reported at the weekend.

Votron’s salary also rose 70%.
The takeover of ABN Amro, combined with the credit crunch, ultimately led to the collapse of Fortis share price and the dismantling of the company.
