Amsterdam port firm Ceres goes Chinese

A majority stake in Amsterdam container terminal company Ceres is being sold by its Japanese owner to China’s Hutchinson Port Holdings, part of the Whampoa group.

In return, the Japanese firm NYK will get a minority stake in Rotterdam’s container terminal company ECT. The Chinese firm has interests in 50 different ports world wide, news agency ANP says.
Ceres declined to comment on the size of the stake being sold to the Chinese, ANP said. Ceres has a workforce of 225.
