30% rise in Chinese students in Holland

The number of Chinese that want to study in the Netherlands has risen 30% compared to last year, making them the second largest group of foreign students after the Germans.

Some 1,900 Chinese people have signed up to a Dutch university or college for the coming academic year, said Jacques van Vliet of the Netherlands Education Support Office (NESO) during a symposium in Shanghai on Sunday, reports ANP news service.
An important reason for the popularity of Dutch universities is that they offer over a thousand English-language courses. ‘That’s more than Germany and France put together,’ Van Vliet is quoted as saying.
The Netherlands also offers foreign students a year in which to find a suitable job in the country once they have graduated, reports ANP.
