Orange fever rises, Robbens to play

Some 50,000 Dutch fans are expected in the Swiss city of Bern on Friday night for the crucial Euro 2008 match against France. By 2pm, some 30,000 Oranje supporters were already in the city centre.

Dutch striker Arjen Robben has recovered from a groin injury and will play in Friday evening’s Euro 2008 match against France, reports ANP news service. He missed Monday’s game against Italy because of the injury.
According to a survey by researchers Trendbox quoted in the Volkskrant, 71% of the Dutch now believe their team will make it through to the quarter finals compared to 30% before Monday’s match, when Oranje beat World Cup holders Italy 3-0.
The paper also reports that the Bon Jovi concert in Amsterdam’s Arena this evening has been postponed to after the match to allow fans to watch the game live on a huge screen.
‘It’s unusual but the band was quick to agree. Bon Jovi love football too and will support Oranje from the dressing rooms,’ a spokesman for Mojo Concerts told the paper.
