Chinese asylum seekers face deportation

The estimated 850 Chinese nationals who have applied for asylum in the Netherlands over the past few weeks will be deported if found to be illegal immigrants, junior justice minister Nebahat Albayrak said on Tuesday.

Normally some 20 Chinese a month apply for refugee status in the Netherlands.
Many of the would-be refugees speak Dutch and are thought to have applied for asylum on the basis of rumours that crown prince Willem Alexander was about to become king and would implement a general pardon.
