Rotterdammers live 18 months shorter than their fellow Dutchmen, according to research by the city’s Erasmus Medical Center.
One reasons for the shorter life expectancy could be that the city has 2% more smokers than the national average, the researchers say. In addition, a lack of exercise, being overweight, lower educational levels and, most importantly, low income levels, may also contribute.
