Sinterklaas most popular Dutch tradition
Some 90% of people polled by the Dutch folk festival centre consider the Sinterklaas celebrations on December 5 as the most important of national traditions.
The centre’s Ineke Stroucken says that perhaps this is a good reason to make the festival a national holiday.
