A number of animals at the Hoogeveen pet shop where 26 visitors were hospitalised with nausea and headaches have been found dead in their cages.

A council spokesman said it was unlikely the animals had been killed by the same mysterious chemical which affected the humans. Instead, stress was the likely cause, he told news agency ANP.
Meanwhile, government scientists are expected to report on the progress they have made in indentifying what caused the symptoms on Friday afternoon.
