Soap and soccer beat politics on TV
There was no competition as far as Dutch TV viewers were concerned last night – 2.3 million watched the football match between London’s Arsenal and Eindhoven’s PSV on Nederland 3 rather than tune in to Nederland 1 for the provincial government election coverage.
With just 800,000 viewers the election attracted even less interest than the soap Goede Tijden, Slecht Tijden (1.3 million).
