Job applicants still lie about their salaries

Almost 40% of people being interviewed for a new job lie about their current salary, but in 2008, over half the applicants did not tell the truth, according to research by website Nationale Vacaturebank.nl.

On average, people add between €100 and €500 to their monthly wage. But whereas in 2008, just 7% added at least €500 to their salary, a quarter of interviewees now do so, the research shows.
Some 35% of the 1,000 people questioned say a higher wage is the most important reason for getting a new job. Some 33% say the job being closer to home is most crucial and 22% rate having good colleagues.
