Ambassadors protest at PVV's anti-eastern European website

Monday 13 February 2012

The ambassadors of 10 central and eastern European countries have sent an open letter to political party leaders protesting about a website set up by the anti-immigration PVV to collect complaints about their nationals.

According to Polish news agency PAP, the letter asks parliamentary party leaders to distance themselves from this ‘regrettable initiative’. Poland’s prime minister Donald Tusk is also aware of the commotion, PAP said. Tusk said there are limited protest options open because the website is the initiative of a politician, not the government, website Polonia.nl reports.

Jobs

PVV leader Geert Wilders said in a reaction to the ambassadors’ letter that it was a ‘waste of paper’. The website is not focused at individual countries but at collecting information about the public nuisance and pressure on jobs, Wilders is quoted as saying by the Volkskrant.

On Friday evening Europe’s justice commissioner Viviane Reding said the website is ‘an open call to intolerance’.‘The PVV website completely goes against European principles,’ Reding said.

‘In Europe, we support freedom. We support an open continent where citizens can move, work and study where they will,’ Reding said. ‘We solve our problems by showing more solidarity, not by telling tales on fellow citizens.’

Complaints

The website, launched on Wednesday, asks people to report complaints about central and eastern European immigrants in the Netherlands.

'Do you have problems with people from central and eastern Europe? Have you lost your job to a Pole, Bulgarian, Romanian or other eastern European? We want to know,' the website states.

‘Europe can get stuffed,’ Wilders said in a reaction to Reding's statement. ‘We’ve had more than 32,000 reports. The website is a hit.’ It is not clear how many of the reports are genuine.

Can someone make it clear this guy is a fraud. I know for a fact that not all the submissions are negative even though he claims so. Isn't that contrary not only to EU right, but to dutch standards ?

Did you just count reports or actually read them, Blondie?? I'm sure many say things you would prefer they didn't.

What's most sad about this is our prime minister's pathetic lack of an appropriate response. He should not be waiting for the rest of Europe to condemn Wilders' outrages actions.

It's nice to be considerate of foreign nationals, to consider their needs, etc., but such altruism and naivete' can result in a net loss for the host country.
Any nation which doesn't consider its own best interest first is doing a disservice to its citizens.
Human beings are not interchangeable or equivalent auto parts, and opportunists who leave their home countries for greener pastures elsewhere is not always best for either place.

sorry to say but sadly he may well have gotten 32,000 reports. unfortunately - if that is indeed true - that is sadder than the site itself!
what bothers me the most about Wilders and his PVV is not he himself - its the number of supporters of the party in this country that often bothers me. its the people that try and justify his racism and discrimination and extreme asocial behavior that bother me. there will always be a 'Wilders' - we have them in the US, trust me -only difference is we don't 'tolerate' such a party as part of our government and these types are generally unpopular in the more educated cities and areas of the US

'Ambassadors protest at PVV's anti-eastern European website'
These ambassadors will surely remember the beginning of Nazism in Germany, and the techniques that the Nazis used.

Nothing changes, Dutch have showed numerously their racism and intolerance, this Wilders scum is just a loudspeaker of many. There are undeniably a lot of Dutch people that are decent, shame that they are in minority.
