Urk ministers oppose 'anti-Bible' rock concert

Friday 15 July 2011

Twelve ministers from the fishing village of Urk have written an open letter to the local council protesting at plans to hold a rock festival on the former island next weekend.

The letter says that rock music contradicts Biblical norms and values. ' Let us not give the devil the opportunity to lure away our youngsters,' the ministers state.

A spokesman for the town council told news agency ANP that while the local authority understood the ministers' position, the concert would go ahead as planned.

Urk is strongly religious and is reported to have 19 different Protestant churches. Earlier, ministers called for a ban on celebrating Halloween.

I'm no rock fan myself, but this is "Urksome"!
I wouldn't mind if they were trying to ban it on the grounds of noise, but religion?

Either way just get some standards in our country please! One party calls rock music satanic and anti-Bible, the other one calls for Freedom of Speech but wants to ban the Muslim's Koran and dress code, killing animals the religous way must be banned but yet farmers can still cut the beaks from Chickens, the government wants to "participate" in action over Libya but does not want to "participate" by firing a shot........ That is what you get with a "compromize" government who sold its soul to form that coalition.
