The average rent for a store on the Kalverstraat is €2,290 per square metre, compared with €16,257 for Fifth Avenue in New York, which heads the list published on Tuesday by international property advisors Cushman & Wakefield.
The rest of the top three is made up of Causeway Bay in Hong Kong and Ginza in Tokyo.
In Europe, London’s New Bond Street has overtaken the Champs-Elysées in Paris as most expensive shopping street. Top locations in Europe also include Milan, Zurich and Munich.
