Geert Wilders stands down as city councillor in The Hague

Anti-Islam party leader Geert Wilders is to stand down as a councillor in The Hague because of the pressure of his parliamentary work.

Wilders was elected to the council on preference votes in the March local elections.
The PVV leader says he has his hands full with the national parliament, now the party has 24 MPs, and cannot remain on the city council.
It is not clear if the two other PVV MPs who have seats on the council in The Hague and Almere will continue to do two jobs.
