The Netherlands must find back the system of reaching ‘a reasonable compromise between different interests,’ Labour leader Job Cohen said while out campaigning in Haarlem at the weekend.

At the moment the attitude is one of ‘the wilder the better,’ the former Amsterdam mayor said. ‘Extreme viewpoints are views as ‘nice and clear’, nuance and thoughfullness ‘unclear’ and ‘weak’,’ Cohen was quoted as saying in the Telegraaf.
‘This shouting is a form of behaviour which does not help society but does build up mistrust between people,’ he said.
