Missing girl's body found in nearby garden

Wednesday 17 March 2010

The body of 12-year-old Millie Boele, missing from her home in Dordrecht since last Wednesday, has been found in the garden of a neighbour.

The man, a 26-year-old police officer from Rotterdam, was arrested on Tuesday after reporting to a nearby police station saying he had important information in connection with the case.

Millie broke off her last telephone conversation with her mother saying there was a man at the door.

Locals told police they did not believe the girl had gone far because no-one had noticed her being taken away by force. The suspect lives two doors away from Millie's family.

The entire block of houses where the girl lived was sealed off at around 6.30pm. Police and crime scene investigators searched the police officer's home and dug up parts of his garden.

Dordrecht police are expected to make a statement later on Wednesday morning.
