Four more swine flu deaths in the Netherlands

Friday 30 October 2009

Four more people have died of swine flu in the Netherlands, bringing the death toll to 10, the environmental health organisation RIVM said on Friday.

Three of the four, which includes two children, had other health problems and the status of the fourth is still unclear.

The number of hospital admissions reached 131 over the past week, more than double the previous week's total. But the number of family doctor diagnoses is stable, the RIVM said.

The RIVM said young children in particular seem to be becoming ill.

Calls for babies and toddlers to be given the vaccine have intensified over the past week. The health council will make its recommendation on vaccinating young children next week, the NRC said.

The statement "the number of family doctor diagnoses is stable, the RIVM said" must be true, because family doctors don't diagnose when the patient call them suspecting swine flue. Our family (including a child) has flu for several days with symptoms of H1N1 and when we called doctor's office, the reply was to call back if anyone is short of breath !!, otherwise they will not diagnose !!!

well..H1N1 is a much more mild (with very low mortality rates) flu than the common seasonal one.If i had a flu i would prefer having the H1N1 compared to the seasonal one.

Wonderful!

Any excuse to let the infection spread and hopefully make some more work for over burdened Health System, oh!, and cost Netherlands even more in lost productivity, income, and human suffering!

Think maybe it's time to start taking away some of the Huisart's "Powers of who Lives or Dies".

Patients should be able to expect to be treated with Respect in a First World Country.

I came back from Mexico mid-April and got sick within 48 hours with all the H1N1 sympthoms appearing in 1,5 hours after my arrival and was really ill. I called my house doctor who refused to see me and told me it was just impossible I would have the flu and I would have been just simply unlucky having caught it.
