Supermarket group Ahold booked a 15% increase in sales in the first three months of this year, helped by the strong dollar.
Without currency effects, turnover would have risen 6.2%, the owner of the Albert Heijn supermarket chain said in a statement. Ahold books some 50% of turnover in the US.
Sales at Albert Heijn rose 12% to €3bn, including the results from new stores taken over from the C1000 group. Comparing like with like, sales rose 4.7%.
