Pope wrong on bishop, say Dutch Catholics
Monday 09 February 2009
Almost 75% of Dutch Catholics think the pope should admit he was wrong to undo the excommunication of the bishop who denies the Holocaust ever took place, according to a survey the Catholic church organisation RKK.
The British bishop Richard Williamson is member of a strict conservative grouping within the church and says that the Nazis did not murder six million Jews during World War II.
Some 20% of those questioned in the survey say the pope has done enough by asking Williamson to retract his words.
