Pirate suspects stand trial in Rotterdam
Wednesday 11 February 2009
Five suspected Somali pirates were flown to the Netherlands on Tuesday to stand trial for their alleged part in an attack on the Dutch Antilles cargo ship Samanyulo in the Gulf of Aden, the public prosecution department said.
The suspects were picked up from the sea by the Danish warship Absalon when their boat caught fire and sank during the attack on January 2.
The five, who were handed over to Dutch authorities by the navy, will appear in court in Rotterdam on Wednesday.
