Kenyan police release three rape suspects

The Kenyan police have released three of the four suspects in custody in connection with the rape of five young Dutch volunteer aid workers in the country just over a week ago, reports ANP news service on Monday.

The women, aged between 17 and 25, were raped during an attack on a Dutch charity project close to the Kenyan city of Kakamega on July 24. Scores of people were arrested immediately after the attack but most were released shortly afterwards.
The Kenyan government has described the incident as ‘terrible’ and says it will do everything possible to find the attackers. The Dutch embassy in Nairobi is keeping a close eye on developments, reports ANP.
