Storm causes few problems
Saturday 01 March 2008
Strong winds blew over trees in some parts of the country, particularly in Zeeland and Brabant but there was little structural damage caused by last night’s storm, news agencies reported on Saturday.
In Pijnacker, a 15-metre conifer tree fell on a home, but no-one was injured. Several cars were damaged. There were two accidents on the N57 when part of the central reservation fencing came loose.
Sea dykes were reinforced in some places but officials said there was no danger. Water levels along northern coastal regions are expected to reach some four metres above normal this afternoon.
