British prize for prefab prisons
Wednesday 19 March 2008
Helmond firm CoproCon has won a UK technical innovation award for its prefabricated prison units, news agency ANP said on Wednesday.
The company has delivered four prison blocks totalling 590 cells since 2006 and a further two are being established this year.
The cells, which are less than seven metres square, have heated floors and special sensors to detect prisoners smoking or using drugs, ANP says.
