First seizure of illegal fireworks

With over a month to go to the New Year celebrations, police have already seized 1,750 kg of illegal fireworks, reports news agency ANP.

At least 11 people have been arrested in connection with the hauls. In the Netherlands, fireworks may only be bought at licenced dealers for a few days in late December.
