The 'compulsory' three kisses from colleagues on your birthday is a veritable nightmare for one in four female workers while one in five men don't like kissing their female colleagues either, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.

Nearly 18% of people also object to the tradition of treating their colleagues to cakes when they celebrate a birthday at work.

I am born and raised in Holland left in 1957.

I refused to do the 3 kissing with anybody. It was not done before I left and it should have stayed that way.

Wonderful! Finally I realize I'm not the only one. This 3 kiss thing is the most phoney, patronizing, and replusive tradition I have ever encountered.

As I understand it, the Dutch stole it from the French and added one more neck wrenching move in their efforts try to make it unique.

Birthday parties should be celebrated on your own time with the people you enjoy and who do not sit in circle all night. Hip Hip Hoera!
