PVV plans: commandos and halal food bans
The anti-Islam party PVV presented its plans to win votes at the local election in Almere and the Hague on Friday, with a strong emphasis on law and order.
In the Hague, the party says the police should be able to carry out mass stop and search exercises throughtout the city, while in Almere, the party plans to introduce 'city commandos' to boost public safety.
Both campaigns pledge to 'clamp down hard on Morocaan urban terrorists', to stop giving money to 'multicultural dream projects', and stop funding all art and cultural projects apart from museums and the Dutch 'cultural inheritance', the Volkskrant reports.
The PVV also wants to scrap dog tax, halve property taxes in the Hague and introduce free parking.
In Almere, the party wants an end to the serving of halal meals in hospitals, schools and sports canteens.
Critics point out that the party's plans, which fit into one side of a piece of A4 paper, do not have any financial underpinnings.
