Large parts of the northern and eastern Netherlands were blanketed by hail and snow on Tuesday morning as the KNMI weather bureau issued a code yellow warning for the entire country.

Sporadic hail storms will create slippery conditions on the roads and in the south west, the winds will reach up to 90 kph at times, the KNMI said.

Although the storms will die down overnight, King’s Night revellers are being warned to wrap up warm, with the temperature set to plunge to around freezing point inland.
