Dutch CO2 emissions rise yet again
Carbon dioxide emissions in the Netherlands rose 6.5% in the third quarter of this year, compared with the year earlier period, the national statistics office CBS said on Friday.
Emissions have now risen for three successive quarters, the CBS said. The increase is mainly due to an increase in electricity production and road and air traffic.
Energy firms, water boards and waste processing plants produced 17% more carbon dioxide and now account for 35% of the total, the CBS figures show.
Earlier this month Dutch banks called for better information from companies on just how much CO2 they emit, so they can adjust their investment policy accordingly.
