Motorists warned about slippery roads, night frosts to continue

Deer in the snow, NetherlandsWintry showers and slippery conditions on the roads will affect all parts of the country on Friday, the KNMI weather bureau says.

The temperature is likely to remain below freezing point in the south, east and north-east, so any snow which falls is likely to lie, the KNMI says.

The morning rush-hour was disrupted by a number of accidents and there were long tailbacks on the A2 and the Amsterdam ring road.

The trains will operate normally on Friday although railway operator NS said it would adapt services if the weather worsened.

Any snow will turn to rain later on Friday and it will be dry overnight, the KNMI says. On Saturday some sleet is likely.

The temperature will remain several degrees above freezing during the day but there will be light frosts at night for the next few days.
