Dutch, Belgian parliaments demand answers on high-speed chaos

Dutch and Belgian parliamentary transport committees plan to hold a joint session to get to the bottom of problems with the high-speed train service Fyra between Amsterdam and Brussels.

The service has been beset by technical problems and delays since its launch in December and is currently suspended because of damage to trains caused by ice and snow.
The heads of both the Dutch and Belgian railways will be called to appear before the committees. The high-speed train replaced the traditional intercity service and there is no other direct connection between the two cities.
Passengers currently wishing to travel between the Netherlands and Belgium are being bussed over part of the route.
