This is the first part of a €100bn bail-out agreed in June.
Parties from across the political spectrum backed the recall to debate the rescue package with finance minister Jan Kees de Jager. De Jager hopes parliament will give its backing to the deal as soon as possible.
‘It is only logical that parliament discusses the desirability and eventual conditions attached to the loan with the government, recess or no recess,’ Socialist MP Ewout Irrgang told Nos television.
PVV leader Geert Wilders, who was the first to demand a recall of parliament, described the decision to back the Spanish banks as a ‘scandal’.
