Robot footballers could do better than national Dutch team

While the Dutch football team looks on the verge of losing the group stages of Euro 2012, there is still a chance for the nation to win an international tournament.

A team of robot football players from the TU Eindhoven is taking part in next week’s world championship Robocup in Mexico, says the Telegraaf.
Expectations are high. In previous contests the Eindhoven team has reached the final but come second. However, team leader Robin Soetens says there is no room for complacency.
‘We need to watch out for the teams from China and Iran,’ he told the paper. ‘And Portugal is a strong outsider.’
The Robocup begins next Wednesday with the final on Saturday. Next year, Robocup will be played in June in Eindhoven.
