Energy bills rise 8%

The average household in the Netherlands paid €156 a month for gas and electricity last month, up €13 on a year earlier, according to new figures from the national statistics office CBS.

Most of the rise is due to a €9 increase in the cost of gas deliveries – which is largely dependent on oil prices, the CBS said.
Energy prices are some 120% higher now than 15 years ago, but inflation has only gone up by 35%, the CBS said.
