Schiphol airport boosts turnover, despite downturn

Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport booked net profit of €194m last year, compared with €169m in 2010, the local-authority owned enterprise said on Friday.

Turnover rose from €1.18bn to €1.28bn as passenger numbers reached a record of almost 50 million.
CEO Jos Nijhuis warned again that the airport is reaching the limits of its capacity. Last month he said Schiphol wants to begin a major expansion programme which will cost over €1bn.
