The Netherlands recalls ambassador to Iran for consultation

The Netherlands has recalled its ambassador from Teheran to discuss Tuesday’s storming of the British embassy by protestors, the foreign ministry said on Wednesday evening.

Foreign minister Uri Rosenthal told parliament earlier on Wednesday there is no need to take extra measures to secure the Dutch embassy in the Iranian capital.
MPs had expressed concern about the situation in Iran but Rosenthal said the security of embassy staff is being monitored closely.
The Dutch ambassador to Iran was recalled earlier this year after the execution of Dutch Iranian Zahra Bahrami on drugs charges.
