Dutch companies trade with Europe, overlook developing countries

Dutch companies that operate internationally do most of their business within Europe. Developing markets tend to be overlooked, according to a report published on Monday by ING Commercial Banking.

The report says 88% of international business is conducted within Europe, mainly in Germany and Belgium. Just 36% is done with Asia.
Competition, too, comes mainly from Dutch and German companies, with Asian companies accounting for just 10%.
Of the ING customers questioned, 87% imports products from abroad and one in ten have companies in another country. Roughly half have an overseas partner, with 34% having an office abroad.
