Femke Halsema to stand down at next election

Femke Halsema, leader of the left-wing green party GroenLinks, is leaving politics at the next election.

Halsema has led the party since 2002 and been an MP since 1998. This year, Halsema was given special dispensation to represent the party for a fourth term. Under GroenLinks rules, MPs may only serve for three parliaments.
She told the AD she did not know what she would do after standing down.
