Squatters want courts to rule on squatting ban

A group of Amsterdam squatters are taking the Dutch state to court to test the legality of the ban on squatting which came into effect on October 1.

They say that plans to evict squatters who are in buildings which were squatted before the ban came into force is illegal and conflicts with human rights laws.
The squatters say hundreds of people face losing their homes which were squatted legally.
The court will hear the case on Thursday afternoon.
