Dutch Moroccans feel at home in HollandThursday 29 July 2010 Some 81% of the young Moroccan Dutch fell at home in the Netherlands, compared with an average of 76% of Moroccans in other European countries, the NRC reports on Thursday. They are also more likely to trust the education system, police and justice ministry officials than in other countries, the poll shows. But at the same time, 79% think the native Dutch have a very bad image of people of Moroccan origin. The average across the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain and Italy is 54%. The Netherlands is also the only one of six countries surveyed where more than half of Moroccan families are supporting someone in their country of origin. The NRC says 2,601 people aged 19 to 34 took part in the poll, but did not say who carried out the research. © DutchNews.nl Get the DutchNews.nl newsletter in your mailbox: Click here to subscribe
The way I see it, most international companies ship their profits right back to their own countries, expatriates in Africa use african banks for transactions and european banks for savings and investments. Of the 1.3 trillion US dollars sent to Africa and anywhere else for that matter; sometimes only as little as 1% actually reaches the countries they're destined for. Furthermore, the conditions attached to this so-called "aid" are more damaging than the "aid" itself. I recommend you read "Lords of Poverty: by Graham Hancock" and a more recent "Dead Aid: by Dambisa Moyo". What Africa needs is not aid but rather your greedy governments to get their sticky fingers out of African countries and for them to stop supporting corrupt African governments that will sign any "deal" just to enrichen themselves. And for your information... those corrupt African governments you see on TV everyday are NOT a representative of the Africans as a people. By the way, Moroccans only make 2.1% of the Dutch population. 2nd generation Moroccans face quite a number of obstacles in their educational career and the discrimination in the labour market does not help much either. So those working pay their taxes like every other resident in the Netherlands; they pay for their living costs in the Netherlands.... and so if less than 1% of the Dutch population wants to send some remittance to Morroco... I say go for it. I don't see Western Union NL complaining... they get their share of that money too, don't they. So in effect, even as they send that money "home", they're still enhancing the Dutch economy. By JK | July 30, 2010 12:51 PM |

Oh good theyre sending lots of Dutch money to Morocco. They do that here in Australia, too. We will never know how much of our national wealth is shipped out of the country this way.
ln the last fifty years African countries have received approx 1.3 trillion US dollars in aid - for very little net improvement. l am no longer prepared to accept that l am to blame for Africas woes. Btw l'm black if its of any interest to you.
