'We are ready to join the government,' says Geert Wilders

Wednesday 09 June 2010

The exit poll's prediction of a 13-seat gain for the anti-Islam PVV has made it a 'glorious day', Geert Wilders told a cheering crowd of supporters in Scheveningen.

'1.5 million people voted for us... and our plans for more safety, less immigration and less Islam,' Wilders said. The exit polls gave the PVV 22 seats in the 150-seat lower house of parliament on Wednesday night.

'We want to make the Netherlands a better place and that is what we will give the Netherlands,' Wilders said, before thanking his wife Christina for her support over the past year.

Later he told an Nos reporter he hoped the party would be able to join a coalition government. 'We are the big winner and they cannot ignore us. We want to be taken seriously,' he said.

What will the make-up of the next government be? Take part in our poll

Wilders wants to be taken seriouly and so he shall be. And therein is the problem for Wilders and his PVV.

By Henk Luf | June 10, 2010 5:27 AM

As an immigrant from England in this lovely country, I wish to say that I do not have a vote at the general elections. If I did I'm sure that I would vote for Mr, Wilders. Not because I have studied his manifesto or I blindly accept his policies.
More so because I am afraid of the relentless increase in the Muslim population.
Holland has always been a tolerant country since the country acquired colonies. I see so many coloured faces from the east and the west, but they are mostly Dutch, They have integrated into Dutch society and feel that they are first and foremost Dutch citizens.
I have many Muslim friends and I worked with many Muslims.
When asked what they are, they all say, Muslim.
Many do not want to integrate into Dutch society as it is alien to their religious beliefs, even kleuters at school behave differently to the rest of the class. My fear is that many Muslims want to change Dutch society into a society that matches their own religious beliefs and standards.
I know there are many decent law abiding Muslims and they are all God fearing. The problem I see is that when a fanatical mullah claims to have received a message from God, or perhaps has interpreted the message of the Noble Koran, many Muslims will blindly follow the fanatic because their faith is so strong.

Perhaps my strongest concern is that their reproduction rate is seemingly much greater than the native population.
So there is no need, yet, to make too many controversial demands.
But when they become sufficiently numerous by means of this 'silent (womb) invasion' it may well be too late to recover the damage in a democracy. This inevitably will lead onto serious civil unrest.
What I love about the Netherlands is that all colours and creeds can live together peaceably. I have no problems with colour or creed. I will however have a problem when one section of society tries to impose their personal views of religion upon me.
Yours sincerely
R.K. Leon

Dutch citizens should be worried about his policies on economy.. once he got rid of all muslims.. is he going to be able to solve all the issues with the budget deficit and shaky Eurozone?

The winning of PVV is not for nothing. Give Wilders a chance.

I jus want to ask one question to the Dutch people: do you really believe that the problem of the muslim immigration is right now the major one in the Dutch society? Are you sure that after stopping the muslim people and seing that it does not have much positive effect Wilders will not turn on to Indians? Chinees? Africans? Eastern Europeans?

L, Wilders will turn against anyone who isn't dutch. The funny part is that in most of the Eastern European states, the far-right extremist have been pushed to the side and here in the so-called civilized western world they are supporting a hypocrite.

So surprising to see the wonderful country I knew and lived in as a student become a place where letters bemoaning population growth among Muslims are published; perhaps Mr. Wilders and the Dutch people who are enthusiastic about him would care to sponsor a ban on reproduction among Muslims ? or perhaps build a compound for them where they could be monitored after work ? perhaps put a Green shield outside it warning people to not be contaminated ?

I most definitely agree with Roy above. This is not an issue of race, the issue is with the fanaticism of a particular culture's views. As a first generation dutch Canadian, all of my family is still in the Netherlands. I visit family once a year in the summer, and that is enough to see how much is changing thanks to Muslim immigrants. They move in to a neighborhood, and push others out, and make no attempt to adapt to the culture. In Limburg, my grandmother is afraid to walk the streets after dark due to continual muslim gang violence.
My aunt had to move out of her apartment because a morrocan moved in above her and slaughters goats on his balcony, and even though blood spills down onto her balcony, the police cannot ask the man to stop because it is part of his religious practices.
At my 12 year old cousin's school, they are asked not to wear items or clothing with the dutch flag, because it is "offending the muslims" and "provoking" conflicts at school! Can you imagine!! Wearing a symbol of your national identity is "provoking" an immigrant to violence?! I could go on with personal examples, but I think I've made my point. While I am sure there are many wonderful, law-abiding immigrants that are just looking for a better life, there are just as many that are no better than an invasive cancer to the country. Wilders, continue your good work, and know you have the support of many!

gert wilders is the greatest man the netherlands have produced in the last 50 years...he's a courageous..intelligent..generous and educated man..long life to him..the last hope of a free independent secular peaceful europe.

Most of us in our country are afraid of the relentless increase in the extremist population that supports Wilders´ xenophobic ideology.
This is completely new in Netherlands and oblivious to the fundamentals that led to success and prosperity to our country. Dialogue, negotiation and democracy. Those are precisely the three values that publicly despises Wilders, managing his party with dictatorial methods and refusing to talk and discus with the Netherlands citizens who profess the Muslim religion.
Prosecute someone for their choice of religion is a fascist act had so far only produced in Netherlands under the old Spanish Inquisition. Therefore the ideology of Wilders is not a Dutch ideology.
Netherlands has always been a tolerant country since the country acquired colonies. I see so many coloured faces from the east and the west, but they are mostly Dutch, They have integrated into Dutch society and feel that they are first and foremost Dutch citizens, no matter what religion they profess.
I have many Muslim Dutch friends and I worked with many Muslims Dutch citizens.
When asked what they are, they all say, Muslim Dutch citizens.
Many extremist Wilders supporters do not want to integrate into Dutch society´s values as it is alien to their authoritarian beliefs, even kleuters at school behave differently to the rest of the tolerant class. My fear is that many Wilders´ supporters want to change Dutch society into a society that matches their own religious beliefs and standards.
I know there are many decent law abiding Wilders´ voters. The problem I see is that when a fanatical political leader claims to have received the mission to rescue the country, and uses it to terrorize the population by creating threats that exist only in his brain, for the sole purpose of reaching the government and change society, many gullible voters will blindly follow the fanatic because their apprehensiveness is so strong.
Perhaps my strongest concern is that their reproduction rate -in terms of indoctrination, of course- is seemingly much greater than the native population determination to preserve those who have been the real Dutch values that have brought prosperity and success for centuries: dialogue, negotiation and democracy. This methodology to change the society way of thinking was successfully used in 1930s in Germany. It is for this reason that Wilders is only recognized and admired by the most radical extremists groups in Europe, like neo nazis and neo fascists.
So there is no need, yet, to make too many controversial demands.
But when they become sufficiently numerous by means of this 'silent (womb) invasion' it may well be too late to recover the damage in a democracy. This inevitably will lead onto serious civil unrest.
What most of us love about our country is that all colours and creeds can live together peaceably. Until now nobody had problems with colour or creed. We will however have a problem when one section of society tries to impose their personal views of religion and ideology upon other by persecution and harassment.

So many short sighted people eager to blame a religion, race, culture...and we seem to never learn from History. Exactly the same as what Hitler said about Jewish communities.

Michael and Lamborghini..even you lived in a place where no immigrants existed, you will find someone different to turn on..I am 100% sure of that. I am just happy Geert Wilders also does not have the support of educated, sensible people which is the reason why I stay in this country. Unlike you and Wilders, I do not tar everyone with the same brush..

Indeed a shame for Dutch society. There are many ways to deal with immigration problem. But I am shocked to see people in Western Europe supporting such a club of racist making it third largest party. I am sure, many genuine Dutch people have been ashamed today!
