Tougher checks on child labour
Thursday 18 March 2010
Dutch companies which are given government grants to carry out projects in developing countries have been told to step up controls on illegal child labour, Trouw reports on Thursday.
From now on, companies found to be employing children or using forced labour can be fined, the economic affairs ministry said on Wednesday. The fine comes on top of the threat of losing the grant altogether.
The size of the fine has yet to be calculated, Trouw said.

There were not any checks, let alone tougher checks on child labour when I started work, shovelling tons of coal into a shed in 1961 at the age of less than 3 years old.
I've done years of hard labour as a child, working along side adults!
They forgot to pay my National Insurance back then which now means that it looks like I have had a short working life when I've did 2 and a half to 45, which is a full working life for most people.
