Corus works council anger at Oudeman removal

Thursday 11 March 2010

Corus Nederland's works council has reacted angrily to the enforced departure of supervisory board member Marjan Oudeman, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Thursday.

Oudeman has been forced to stand down on the orders of Corus owner Tata Steel, the paper says. Oudeman is a former director of Corus Nederland and considered one of the most powerful women in the Netherlands.

The works council said in a statement she had performed exceptionally as a member of the supervisory board and made an important contribution to the continuity of Corus Nederland.

There is no reason to replace her before her official term in office has been completed, the works council said.

According to BNR radio, Oudeman is leaving the supervisory board to concentrate on her executive role with parent company Corus Group.
