Current affairs tv faces shake up
Wednesday 20 January 2010
The public sector broadcasters are planning to shake up current affairs programming by revamping Nova as Nieuwsuur and cancelling Netwerk altogether, the NRC reports on Wednesday.
Both shows are currently joint productions between several public broadcasters.
The aim of the changes is to allow individual broadcasters to stamp their own personality on current affairs and to take account of the new division of air time later this year, the NRC said.

I never quite understood this split of TV airtime in the Netherlands.
I know what it's TRYING to achieve, but frankly, I think it fails miserably as nothing broadcast is ever very much different from the other broadcaster's portfolio, and in the end it makes for extremely boring TV which is not amended often enough to reflect the taste of us, the viewers.
