Police fined for burnt toasted sandwichFriday 11 December 2009 Police in Tiel have been fined €500 by the local fire brigade for continually burning their toasted sandwiches, says local tv station Omroep Gelderland. Fire engines have been sent to the police station so many times that officials decided to fine the force. The problem was caused partly by a technical fault and partly because police officers forget to unplug the sandwich maker when called out, the broadcaster said. © DutchNews.nl
yeah , they got toasted finally ... By Zen | December 11, 2009 4:35 PM Why not adjust the sandwich maker machine to a lower setting to avoid burning? And how come the fire dept did not suggest this or confiscate the troublesome machine? All those months of training & probation, including safety procedures to become a police officer, and they cannot make a simple toasty? These are the guys chosen to uphold the law and protect us...DUH! By stevie | December 12, 2009 12:47 PM I like Stevie's suggestions, but here's another one. Hire cops who are smart enough to unplug the sandwich maker. OR, maybe they just need a spanking. When I did something like that as a kid, I got a good old-fashioned spanking. After a few of those, I didn't leave things turned on and plugged in anymore. Oh, and what good would cooking classes do? This isn't about cooking. It's about turning the samdwich maker off when you leave the kitchen. By Tim | December 15, 2009 1:14 AM

Offer the police cooking classes. Far less costly than sending the fire brigade to the police depot for a burned sandwich.
