'One in three do a heavy job'
Tuesday 08 December 2009
One in three people consider they do a 'heavy job' and should be exempt from the planned increase in the state pension age, news agency ANP reports.
The government plans to force employers to find other jobs after staff have done 'heavy work' for 30 years. If not, workers will be allowed to retire at 65 on their employer's cost.
The government has not yet defined 'heavy work' but has said only physical labour will be considered.
The Synovate survey shows 49% of nurses, police officers and fire officers think they should be allowed to retire at 65.
