Six more, including baby, die of swine flu

Friday 20 November 2009

Six more people, including a young baby, have died of swine flu over the past week, health officials said on Friday.

All had previous health problems, the RIVM public health monitoring institute said. The death toll from swine flu in the Netherlands is now 28.

In total 359 people were admitted to hospital last week, of whom 24% were young children. Doctors are to begin the mass vaccination of 0 to 4-year-olds on Monday.

Some 18 people per 10,000 of the population reported flu-like symptoms to their family doctors last week, compared with 16 per 10,000 in the previous week and the RIVM says the epidemic is still light.

We keep hearing of these tragic deaths which are on the increase !! What I don't understand - it was the same with the 'Bird Flu' - not enough information - also we are never told what these under lying health problems are with the people who die. Thus if we all then experience 'Flu' symptoms, we are then to PANIC, it's utterly ridiculous from the Medical Authorities not to provide much more information - afterall this is a PANDEMIC REALITY !.

i would love to know what these "underlying health issues" are! you can't die of getting ill, you die of an effect of something. Organ failure, resparitory failure etc...

That's very sad for those who died, especially the baby. I can't imagine the loss those parents are experiencing. I do not agree with using those deaths to scare the public into UNSAFE vaccines on otherwise healthy children. MANY MANY MAAAAANY children(babies included) die of seasonal flu yearly and those are not put in the news! This should be no different.

DutchNews writes: "359 people were admitted to hospital last week". But why doesn't DutchNews compair those 2009 figures with 2008? Then everybody can see how dangerous or not dangerous H1N1 really is.

[Editors note: If those figures were readily available, we would publish them.]

Have you compiled a list of Dutch H1N1 deaths ?
