Nike and skating association end alliance

Friday 13 November 2009

The Dutch skating association KNSB and sports clothing maker Nike have ended their alliance which began in 2002.

Nike's 'swift suits' worn by Dutch speed skaters have been highly criticised by some skaters for being uncomfortable. All round star Sven Kramer is one of the critics, news agency ANP said.

'Both sides think it is the best decision,' Nike spokesman Stephan Lub told ANP. 'But we still think our suits are the fastest in the world.'

The KNSB is now working with sports clothing firm Sportconfex to come up with its own suit.
