The Netherlands has most part-timers in EU

Wednesday 22 July 2009

The Netherlands has more people doing part-time jobs than any other country in Europe, the national statistics office CBS said on Wednesday.

Almost half the working population work less than a 35 hour week - 75% of women and 25% of men, the CBS said. The figures date from 2007.

In Germany, 25% of the population worked part time, followed by Sweden and Britain in third place.

I'm a stay at home mother and I am always amazed by how many entire families are out shopping when I am! During work and school hours. You wonder how they even have an income ya know? I doubt half the city just happened to have X day off...
