Schiphol smuggled cash total hits €2m

Friday 17 July 2009

Customs officials at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport have discovered cash totalling €2m being smuggled in and out of the country so far this year, the AD reports on Friday.

On Thursday, €133,000 was found hidden in shampoo bottles and clothes belonging to two women who attempted to fly to the Dominican Republic.

Although it is not illegal to travel with large sums of cash, passengers must be able to explain where the money came from.
