Clever students study free in Tilburg

Thursday 23 April 2009

Students starting at Tilburg University in September who scored at least 7.5 in their final school exams, will be eligible for two years free education, the AD reports.

The paper says the university has set aside money to pay the tuition fees of 65 top students. The aim is to attract more talent to the region.

Maastricht University runs a similar scheme.

surely less fortunate students can benefit from this!

Less fortune students need more time to get a life and less time to prepare for exams. I think so. Scores should not be the only standard.

What this highlights is that if mummy and daddy can provide for you then you reap the rewards of a free education. However, if the sudent is from a less well off family and has to work evenings and weekends in low paid jobs to finance themself through school, then it all becomes clear. Money goes to money! Who said a classless society existed in the Nederlands?
